voting and democracy

Date: November 04, 2002 | 28 Shaban 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: thoughts
Tuesday is Election day. I'm going to vote, but I have to admit I've been coming to think a lot that it hardly matters sometimes, the two major parties are practically the same in some ways and I don't want either of them in. As often happens, I'll be more voting against some people than for others. I'm not sure what ails our system, but it's definitely not as healthy as it could and should be.

Meanwhile, do check out The Compact of Medina: A Constitutional Theory of the Islamic State for a brief look at social contract theory, constitutions, and democracy in Islamic political discourse. More articles about Islamic political theory can be found here, along with various other miscellaneous articles.
