doing what's right

Date: October 14, 2002 | 7 Shaban 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: school, paralegal
Today in my Civil Procedures class we were discussing ethics. One thing I have already been impressed with in my instructor is that he has a very strong moral sense. He told us today how he discovered that an insurance company that he had represented in the past had done wrong to the man who was his client at that time. The insurance company wanted him to convince the client not to sue. When he refused to do that they said they would no longer retain him as an attorney. He also referred the client to another lawyer who wouldn't have any kind of conflict of interest. So he lost a very lucrative client because he stood up for what's right and passed on another client to make sure there was no suggestion of impropriety. We need more people like that today, in every walk of life.
