On the terrorist attack in Indonesia

Date: October 13, 2002 | 6 Shaban 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: condemn, terrorism
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. Surely we belong to God and surely we will return to Him. This is the Muslim prayer upon hearing of death.

Something inside me died again when I heard about the horrific bomb blasts in Bali, Indonesia. The latest reports are that nearly 190 people died in the explosions and hundreds more were injured. Most of them were tourists and other people on vacation.

Such an action is completely against the tenets of Islam. Please see What Islam Really Says About Killing Civilians. You can also read Some Quranic Verses on Jihad to learn what Islam says about the correct way to make war and Muslims Condemn Terrorist Attacks to see how Muslim leaders, scholars, and ordinary people have all condemned terrorism and stated that it is contrary to the teachings of Islam.

Whoever has done this has committed a terrible sin and crime. The Quran says "Whoever kills a single human being unjustly is as though he had killed all of humankind" (Surah al-Ma'ida ayah 32). Deliberate murder of another person will put you in Hell forever. Imagine the punishment for those who have killed hundreds or thousands. Whoever has committed this atrocity will have God's wrath upon him.

I fear the hatred and violence that will continue to flow from this. May Allah SWT help us all.

I agree wholeheartedly. sad My grief towards the incident is also because of the effect it brings to the Indonesians... although the casualties are mostly foreign tourists, in the end it is Indonesia that suffer. Those bomb-blasters, whoever they are and whatever their causes are, simply don't care about my country and its people. I pray Allah shed light onto them and make them realise that what they're doing is wrong, very very wrong.

As Salaamu Alaikum,

I hadn't read or heard the news the entire weekend and then this morning I saw the headlines saying something about Terror ... and I couldn't read the rest of the words. Then I turned on the radio and heard about the blasts in Indonesia.

I wonder whats going to happen next. May Allah save us all.

I haven't been paying much attention to the news lately. Everything is so depressing. Death here. Death there. Terrorists. Hatred. Muslims. Non-Muslims.

There's so much happening and it feels like there's nothing that anyone can do to make life better. sad
