I wonder if they've ever heard of freedom of religion

Date: September 24, 2002 | 17 Rajab 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: commentary
From A Gaggle of Gals (you'll have to scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the entry):

Well, if that chick wants to wear a veil or not, I don't really care. I'm probably missing the point. As with the certain people who expect US to learn THEIR language even though they have come to OUR country--go back to where you came from. She wants to wear a damn veil, go to the Middle East.
In their previous entry, they had linked to my blog so I have to assume the comment is about me. Hey, gaggle of gals, you ever heard of the First Amendment?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...

Oh, and by the way I was born and raised in the U.S. of A. so if you want me to "go back to where I came from" I'll be staying right here, thank you very much.

I'm so sick of those freaks too. They think that every woman that wears a veil is from the Middle East.. hahahah haha ha! roll eyes

Me thinks that women from all kinds of cultures used to cover their hair.. once upon a time when women had modesty.

I'm also wondering about their claim that immigrants to the U.S. demand for Americans to learn their own language. I've never heard of any immigrant asking Americans to learn a foreign language.

And even if that were true, what does it have to do with wearing hijab or niqab? Ooh, I'm forcing you to look at a veil. What a violation of your rights - NOT!!!

Obviously, there are people who think this way and are not afraid to speak their mind.

The good news for me is reading your response and seeing that you maintain yourself and keep your class as people act like idiots.

I am growing to like you more and more as I read your blog.

Thanks for your kind words, David. smile I was upset at first but now I'm just kind of shaking my head at their ignorance. Truly, it takes all kinds to make the world.
