the dumb hacker

Date: September 08, 2002 | 1 Rajab 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: website
I receive email notification when comments are made to my blog. Yesterday morning when I checked my email I noticed that somebody had written some javascript code into a comment in my blog. Although the script didn't do anything more malicious than print out some words, I deleted the comment so that the script would not cause problems for anyone. I also took note of the IP address of the person who posted the comment (203.51.205.28; the hostname is CPE-203-51-205-28.gld.bigpond.net.au). Later I checked my referrer logs to see how this joker had found my site. It turns out that the idiot ran a search on Google for html is enabled guestbook. He didn't find my site by chance and decide to play his trick, he was out looking for HTML-enabled guestbooks and comments so that he could do this to as many of them as he could find. roll eyes

P.S. I wonder why I've been having so much trouble from Australia lately. First the spammer, now the hacker.

I hate when people just want to hurt others for no reason. It really sucks.

i think hackers are the freakiest people on the net...they must have a lot of time on their hands...not to mention people that crete viruses...i think that anti-virus companies pay these guys and gals to create these viruses (otherwise they won't stay in business...whatchoo think?)

Sometimes I have the same problem, sis Yumna. It happened to me a couple of times on Cindy's comments too. I find that the best thing to do is to immediately close the comment pop-up and then open it again. If my comment went through then I don't need to do it again. Going back and submitting again almost always seems to result in a double-post.

hey, if you find your getting an INORDINATE amount of spam mail, do a search for your email address on google.. what you find is what the trolling software finds...

Sucks, eh?

(can fix it using the %4 html code in place of the @ in your email address. the trolling stuff won't pick it up smile)

oh.. i had meant to get back to you on this...

I do medical transcription from home. If this is really something your interested in, i can give you some pointers. you don't REALLY need to go to school for it. You just need a knack for language and to be able to type at about 10 pages or better an hour. Get hold of me if you want to, kay?

Squee, thanks for the tip. But this wasn't done by trolling software, this is somebody who took the time to personally look up information on my domain.

BTW, I changed my mind about medical transcription a long time ago. You must have found one of my archive pages or something. I've enrolled in a paralegal program and the classes start in just over a week. Thanks for your help though.
