argh!

Date: September 06, 2002 | 28 Jumada al-Akhir 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: spam
Somebody used my email address to sign me up to a bunch of marketing services, and apparently they did a whois on my domain name and found my real name to enter when they submitted. I got 11 junk mails, half of which had my real name all over them and I don't give that out freely online. Fortunately most of them I was able to unsubsribe, which I hope works, the others I blocked.

One of them reported what IP address had signed me up, and I did a little hostname lookup. The host name for 203.14.174.236 is j174-236.nv.iinet.net.au. I certainly do not live in Australia!

This kind of invasion of other peoples' privacy is going way too far! mad

It's really bad when people do things like that without a person's permission, and it's hard to get over the feeling of betrayal or violation. But we should always remember to ask Allah SWT to purify our hearts of negative emotions.
