running into problems blogging

Date: September 01, 2002 | 23 Jumada al-Akhir 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: website
In the last few days I have suddenly started getting "Internal Server Error" messages a lot while using MT. What seems to be happening is that something is causing the MT scripts to terminate before they are finished running their process. Usually I can get it to work by running the process again, but it's a pain to do that. My webhost says its not anything they're doing (some webhosts will terminate processes on the server that are taking up too many resources), so now I am trying to work with the MT people to see what I can do. It's really weird how it suddenly started like this when I had been using it just fine for almost a month. Inshallah, we'll be able to get to the root of the problem.

For the time being however, I'm putting A Quranic Journal and The Clipboard on hold because 2/3 of my posts are to those blogs and I don't want to strain the system any more than I have to. Inshallah, I will keep posting here at veiled4allah and to ~*niqabi*~ once a day or so.

This reminds me of the bad old days with Blogger. Except that the MT people are very active and willing to help out whereas it seemed like we never got any response from Blogger when there were technical problems.

Yeah, I hate when they aren't interactive with the people that use their service. Then you're left wondering how much longer the problems will go on.

Anyway, I hope you get it all fixed soon.

I'm beginning to think that it may in fact be a problem with my webhost, because another MT user who's on DreamHost mentioned in the MT forums that he's having the same problem.

I'm glad to know it isn't an MT problem. I love MT so much and I would hate if it had become unreliable.

yeah...most probably its a problem with your host...inshaAllah it'll get fixed soon, ameen!

suggestion (maybe too hard or too much work to do this): you should have a test setup (like a development setup for testing?) on another host (a FREE host that lets you use the MT maybe?)

It seems to definitely be a problem with my webhost. I have now found three other people who use the same webhost who are having the exact same problem that I am. I am trying to encourage them to submit support tickets to DreamHost so that DreamHost realizes they've got four users all suddenly having the same problem. It's got to be something on their end.

As for having a test set-up, unfortunately there are not really any free webhosts that offer the services I need to run MT. That's one of the reasons I upgraded to a paid webhost. Plus, installing the whole thing all over again would be too much hassle.

If I needed to be able to have another blog to communicate with people, I would probably just set up a Blogger blog or something tongue

Thanks for the suggestions though.
