family matters

Date: August 29, 2002 | 20 Jumada al-Akhir 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: family
My mom is going to Minnesota next week to visit her mother. My grandmother recently turned 94. It's really amazing to think about how much the world has changed since she was a girl. My grandfather died four years ago. Everybody thought my grandma would sort of fade away, but she's still hanging in there smile

My grandmother is a very devout Catholic. I'm not really sure what she thinks of my being a Muslim. I'm not sure how much she remembers it most of the time, which may be just as well. I don't think she knows a lot about Islam. I hope that Allah SWT will be merciful in His judgment of her and reward the good that she has done in her life and her faith in Him. It's really hard sometimes when family members are of a different religion.

Yeah it can be hard to have non-Muslim family. I guess I've just learned to accept it now, and I don't think about it as much as I used to.

I usually don't think about it either but it came to my mind because I was thinking how elderly my grandmother is and how she could die at any time, and all that.

Allah will do what is just. smile
