what's the definition of terrorism?

Date: August 23, 2002 | 14 Jumada al-Akhir 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: commentary
A podiatrist arrested after authorities found guns and explosives in his home planned to destroy an Islamic education center and dozens of mosques, court documents alleged Friday.

Deputies searching Dr. Robert J. Goldstein's home near St. Petersburg found up to 40 weapons, 30 explosive devices, a list of about 50 Islamic worship centers in Florida and detailed plans to bomb an Islamic education center, according to a complaint filed Friday.

Is this terrorism? If it had been a Muslim who was planning to bomb churches and synagogues, would people consider it terrorism? It seems pretty clear that they would. Doesn't that make Goldstein's plot terrorism too?

Ya, he was targeting one of our local mosques but I got intervied on TV about it and my reaction and what not, so that was pretty cool, but it's kinda scary that something like that could happen here =|

And many media stuff didn't say he was Jewish, let alone even call him a terrorist...
