figuring out the new subscription service

Date: August 05, 2002 | 26 Jumada al-Awwal 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: website
I have a new subscription service now because Bloglet doesn't seem to work with my blog anymore. The MT subscription service is quite different from Bloglet.

Bloglet sends out a single email once a day reporting whether or not the blog has been updated during that day. This is done automatically as long as Bloglet can access the blog.

The MT subscription service is different. Whenever I post an entry I have the option of notifying my subscribers about the new entry. So if I post five new entries in a day, then my subscribers would receive five separate email messages.

I already have one subscriber (you know who you are, sis) so this person and anyone else who wants to join in gets to be a guinea pig. What works best for the subscription service?

The subscription applies to all three blogs in Al-Muhajabah's Islamic Blogs: veiled4allah, A Quranic Journal, and The Clipboard. I post from one to three entries to A Quranic Journal each day. I usually post once or twice to veiled4allah, but sometimes more than that. I usually don't post to The Clipboard everyday but when I do post, I often post two or three entries together. On account of all of this, a subscriber could be receiving as many as nine notification emails in a single day, or as few as two.

I know we've all got too much stuff in our inboxes every day (and I get all the notices too, so I'm with you on this one). That's why I would like to find out what my subscribers would like to be notified about and what they don't want to be notified about.

All subscribers will get the same thing so I'd like to go by what the majority prefers.

If you are a subscriber, or if you would like to subscribe, please post a comment indicating what notifications you would like to receive and what ones not. I can also configure the text that appears in the notification message. I can include an excerpt of the entry, or even the full text of the entry. I can include a message telling you what the specific entry is about, or make some other comment on it, or indicate which of the three blogs it was posted in.

There are a lot of possibilities here. So, again, please post and let me know what you would like to see. Jazakum Allah khayrun.

I'm pretty sure that Scriptygoddess uses both MT and Bloglet. Might see if they can offer a hand to you.

I got some really weird error message when I tried to configure Bloglet with MT, so that's why I gave up on it. But I'll take a look at the resource you suggested. Thanks!
