learning the Quran

Date: May 31, 2002 | 19 Rabi al-Awwal 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: personal
Since the beginning of March, I have been working to memorize some of the Quran, a few ayat every day. This is thanks to Quran Club, an e-group (for women only) started by a mashallah very wonderful sister known as Found the Words. May Allah SWT reward sister FTW greatly for this! I had wished for quite some time to learn more of the Quran than I knew, but I had no idea how to go about it. Thanks to Quran Club, I got a memorization schedule and found out about online audio resources to learn the Quran from. I now have 25 surahs memorized, al-hamdulillah. I never thought I would be able to say that! I fear that anybody who knows Arabic would laugh at my pronunciation but I do try to use proper tajwid by imitating exactly how the qari (reciter) in the recording says it.

I recently started A Quranic Journal which is updated with a few ayat each day and includes the Arabic text, transliteration, English translation of the meaning, and commentary. I wish I was getting more hits to this page than just me updating it every day frown. So come on, peeps! Visit it! Link it!
