Muslim blogs

Date: June 28, 2002 | 17 Rabi al-Akhir 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: muslim, blogs
Sister starrysky has two categories of links on her blog, Muslim blogs, and Islamic blogs. What's the difference, you say? An Islamic blog is a blog that has Islamic content. For example my Quranic Journal and Weekly Islamic Article and starrysky's Hadeeth Blog. A Muslim blog is any blog made by a Muslim, whatever the content may be.

Some people complain about Muslim blogs, either in general or specific ones that may be listed in my left right panel. They think they're not Islamic enough. I think those criticisms are unfair. It would be one thing if the content was unIslamic (for example "Last night I got wasted and slept with all these guys and it was so fun") or anti-Islamic. We might choose in that case not to link to those blogs or visit them. But that isn't what the complaints are about. The complaints are because the Muslim blogs in question are about ordinary daily life things. As I said "not Islamic enough" in the eyes of these people.

I wonder who they are to judge? We never know what good Allah SWT might bring about. There might be somebody out there who has never met a Muslim and knows nothing about Islam. They visit a Muslim blog and start thinking "hey, this girl is an ordinary person just like me". And they start to become interested in Islam. The person who writes that Muslim blog in that case did more good for Islam than fifty Quran blogs and hadith blogs might do. People who complain are going to look pretty stupid then.

And nobody is forcing anybody to visit any blog or read any of its contents. If you don't like a certain blog, then don't visit it. It's as simple as that.
