Sometimes when I'm reading an Islamic article or book, I just feel this love for Islam and how beautiful the deen is and how happy I am to be a Muslim. Subhan Allah.

I thought about becoming a Moslem, but then I read about the Iranian guy who beheaded his 7 year old daughter. I know that this isn't taught in Islam, but I didn't realize that a man can do anything to his child including murder, and the wife has no rights to ask for any justice for her child, as it's only the father's rights. I think there may be something wrong with religion that doesn't allow a mother to ask that a murderer be punished only because the murderer is the child's father. What if he has kids and kills them just because he can't afford them anymore? Or he hears a rumore that the child isn't his? Or is angry that his wife leaves him and wants to kill the child just to hurt her? I wouldn't feel good condoning this behavior or trying to justify to people how my husband has a right to kill my kids.

Julie, you just said yourself that it is not part of Islam. To the best of my understanding, a mother has every right to complain to the authorities if her children are being mistreated. I can think of a case when a woman did so to the Prophet Muhammad himself, and he found in her favor and ordered her husband to treat the children fairly.

I know it is very difficult when countries that claim to be following Islamic law do injustice but PLEASE before you condemn Islam as an evil religion, check to see if their interpretations are actually correct. They often aren't. Many Muslims say there are NO countries today that are correctly applyiing Islamic law and they say that knowing full well that Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Afghanistan claimed to be doing so.
