credit cards

Date: July 13, 2002 | 3 Jumada al-Awwal 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: thoughts
I actually gave up using credit cards back in 1997, which was two years before I converted to Islam. So it's as much personal choice as religious principle that I don't use them. It's too easy to let things get out of control with credit cards and start spending money you don't have. It forces me to discipline my spending if I have to be sure there's money in my checking account before I purchase something. Sometimes its a hassle because merchants won't ship till they receive your payment.

I probably should have got into PayPal a long time ago but I guess I was wary of it. However, there are some things I want to do now that PayPal is my only option if I don't use a credit card. So it's about time to take the plunge, inshallah.
