Surah at-Taghabun ayah 6

Date: October 17, 2005 | 14 Ramadan 1426 Hijriah
Arabic text of ayah

Dhalika bi annahu kanat tatihim rusuluhum bi al-bayyinati fa qalu abasharun yahdunana fa kafaru wa tawallaw wa istaghna Allahu wa Allahu ghaniyyun hamidun

That was because there came to them messengers with Clear Signs, but they said: "Shall human beings direct us?" So they rejected and turned away. But Allah is independet, and Allah is free of all needs, worthy of all praise

The following is an excerpt of commentary on this ayah from Tafsir Ibn Kathir:

They discounted and dismissed the possibility that the Message would be sent to a human and that their guidance would come by the hands of a man like themselves
