Surah at-Talaq ayah 7

Date: October 05, 2005 | 2 Ramadan 1426 Hijriah
Arabic text of ayah

Liyunfiq dhu sa'atin min sa'atihi wa man qudira 'alayhi rizquhu fal yunfiq mimma atahu Allahu la yukallifu Allahu nafsan illa ma ataha sayaj'alu Allahu ba'da 'usrin yusran

Let the one of means spend according to his means: and whose resources are restricted, let him spend according to what Allah has given him. Allah does not burden any person beyond what He has given him. After a difficulty, Allah will soon grant relief.

The following is an excerpt of commentary on this ayah, from Tafsir Ibn Kathir:

This is as Allah said, "Allah does not burden a person beyond what He can bear" [2:286]
