Surah al-Mulk ayah 19

Date: November 24, 2004 | 11 Shawwal 1425 Hijriah
Arabic text of ayah

Awa lam yaraw ila at-tayri fawqahum saffatin wa yaqbidna maa yumsikuhunna illa ar-rahmanu inna hu bi kulli shayin basirun

Do they not see the birds above them, spreading and folding their wings? Nothing holds them except the Most Merciful, surely He watches over every thing

The following is an excerpt of commentary on this ayah, from Tafsir Ibn Kathir:

Sometimes they spread their wings out in the wind (gliding) and other times they gather and spread (flapping) the wings in flight... Allah holds them up in the air by subjecting the air to them out of His mercy and His gentleness
