Surah al-Qalam ayah 46

Date: October 20, 2004 | 6 Ramadan 1425 Hijriah
Arabic text of ayah

Am tasaluhum ajran fa hum min maghramin muthqaluna

Or do you ask them for a reward so that they are weighted down with debt?

The following is an excerpt of commentary on this ayah, from Tafsir Ibn Kathir:

The meaning of it is, 'You, O Muhammad, call them to Allah without taking any wages from them. rather, you hope for the reward with Allah'
