Surah al-Qalam ayah 29

Arabic text of ayah

Qalu subhana rabbina inna kunna zalimina

They said, Glory be to our Lord, surely we have been wrongdoers

The following is an excerpt of commentary on this ayah, from Tafsir Ibn Kathir:

They became obedient when it was of no benefit to them, and they were remorseful and confessed when it was not of any use
