Surah al-Fajr ayah 24

Date: October 19, 2002 | 12 Shaban 1423 Hijriah
Arabic text of ayah

Yaqulu ya laytani qaddamtu li hayati

He will say: Alas, would that I had sent forth (something) for my life

The following is an excerpt of commentary on this ayah, from Tafsir Ibn Kathir:

Ahmad ibn Hanbal reported that Allah's Messenger said, "Even if a slave (of Allah) remains in prostration from the day he is born to his death, and remains obedient to Allah, still he will consider his worship insignificant on the Day of Judgment and will long to return to the world to do more righteous deeds."
