Surah ad-Duha ayah 11

Date: September 11, 2002 | 4 Rajab 1423 Hijriah
Arabic text of ayah

Wa amma bi ni'mati rabbika fa haddith

And proclaim the grace of your Lord

The following is an excerpt of commentary on this ayah, from Tafsir Ibn Kathir:

Finally Allah says that one should always make mention of the graces of the Lord with feeling of gratitude. Abu Nadrah says that the earlier Muslims viewed mentioning of Allah's favors as an act of gratitude. Imam Ahmad reported from the Prophet, "One who does not thank people, does not thank Allah." According to another hadith reported by Abu Dawud, the Prophet said, "One who is bestowed with a bounty is grateful if he mentions it, but if he conceals it he is an ingrate." Another hadith reported by Abu Dawud said, "If one is done a favor, he should return it. If he is not able, then he should praise the bestower."
