Tuesday update: Obama responds, McCain continues to over-react, Clark media blitz

Obama responds to reporters asking about the Clark brouhaha. In the first video he says the issue isn't exactly a top priority compared to the problems the country faces, and that Clark was just "inartful". He ignores a suggestion that he or Clark should apologize.

In the second video, Obama reiterates his respect for McCain's service, then pivots to criticize McCain's judgment.

Discussion of the above: 1, 2, News blog coverage: 1, 2, 3.

Meanwhile, bloggers consider the strategy Obama and Clark are using: 1, 2, 3.

McCain is really over-reacting. Webb makes a simple point, and McCain takes it as an attack, which of course it isn't. And his own surrogates are demeaning Clark's service. And McCain not only has a Swiftboater as a surrogate but has taken $70,000 in donations from Swiftboaters.

Meanwhile, General Clark is on a media blitz: Good Morning America, Ed Schultz radio show, MSNBC, The Situation Room

Clark Quote

Don't we owe it to ourselves to be all that we can be as a people of faith? To reach out and offer hope and opportunity to the least among us? To preach peace and prosperity and to live equality and justice? (source)
