Clark on Iran and Iraq

Audio (transcript) - Clark appears on the Ed Schultz radio show. He talks about Iran and the importance of talking to them; sanctions would be ineffective and likely to set Iran's back up. He says that planning on military option should include how to end it. He also says we should be planning how best to live with a nuclear Iran. He then talks about Iraq and says that if we just pull out, the Shi'a will move against the Sunnis, destabilizing the country and the region, so we need to use leverage on the Shi'a to include Sunnis in the process. He says Murtha's redeployment plan is not a good one and that driving our policy by overstretch of the army would not work; we still have interests in the region but lose the ability to influence events if we are not there. He also says the real problem with the ports issue is not who owns them but whether the government is securing them. He blames bush for fearmongering against Arabs (and not seeing this would be the consequence).

Clark Quote

Don't we owe it to ourselves to be all that we can be as a people of faith? To reach out and offer hope and opportunity to the least among us? To preach peace and prosperity and to live equality and justice? (source)
