Clark double-play

Clark on "This Week" - Videos (1, 2, 3, 4, QuickTime), Summary, Discussion (1, 2), Commentary, Transcript, Audio - Clark discusses Dubai ports issue, says the real issue isn't who owns them but whether the government is taking proper security measures, which it isn't yet. He mentions visiting Dubai and says not to put labels on countries. Stresses that even if the U.S. owned all its ports, the security issues would still remain and also should be a focus on the point of origin of cargo sent to U.S. America can't be walled off, has to be part of global economy. He sticks to these points through some discussion. Discusses Iraq. Says immediate withdrawal would be a mistake, concentrate on getting leverage to effect political change in Iraq, taking the leadership on the ground to make a change (he mentions the border with Iran and the militias in the south, which he discussed before in his plan). U.S. can't just walk away from the situation because with interests in the Middle East will have to live with the consequences, therefore needs to try to make it right. Most important thing is to use leverage to get Sunnis involved in political process to stave off civil war. It's not about the military though, it's about politics and that needs to be the focus. Discusses Iran, we need to talk to Iran, haven't been taking responsibilities seriously to do this. Mixed messages now to Iran, pressing them will just make them more determined. Discusses politics, focuses on 2006 elections, mentions 55 military veterans running for Congress as Democrats. Warns against the current one-party domination of government, we need Democratic-controlled Congress to investigate Bush's abuses of power, mentions Abramoff, NSA wiretapping, 9/11 etc.

Clark on Fox - Videos (1, 2, 3), Discussion, Transcript, Audio - Clark discusses Iran and repeatedly stresses the importance of opening dialogue with people in Iran because the military option would likely be disastrous.

Clark Quote

Don't we owe it to ourselves to be all that we can be as a people of faith? To reach out and offer hope and opportunity to the least among us? To preach peace and prosperity and to live equality and justice? (source)
