Here's the real State of the Union

WesPAC sent the following email on January 31, 2006 (transcript of his speech was also included):

Tonight, President Bush is delivering his annual "State of the Union" address. I expect that President Bush will tell the American people that he is leading our country in the right direction -- but you and I know better. We know that the state of the Union is not what it should be, and not what it could be.

Fortunately, I had the opportunity to speak about "The Real State of the Union" in a speech that I delivered at The New America Foundation in Washington, DC yesterday. I hope you'll read through my remarks below, and I hope you'll agree that in so many areas -- on Iraq, the war on terrorism, jobs, health care, education, and so many others -- President Bush has led our country in the wrong direction.

We cannot stay the course. So today, as President Bush prepares to deliver his "State of the Union" address, let us send the White House our own message -- that the American people demand better from our President and from the Republican leadership in Congress.

Enough is enough! Forward an email to the White House today -- tell President Bush that the American people demand better leadership to get our nation back on track.

Then forward this email to everyone you know. America is at a crucial turning point, and we must do everything in our power to make sure our country makes the right choices.

Sincerely,

Wes Clark

Clark Quote

Don't we owe it to ourselves to be all that we can be as a people of faith? To reach out and offer hope and opportunity to the least among us? To preach peace and prosperity and to live equality and justice? (source)
