Clark on Israel and Palestine, Iran
Audio (alternate, transcript - Clark appears on the Ed Schultz radio show to discuss the victory of Hamas in the Palestinian elections and other topics. First, they discuss Clark's activities campaigning for Democrats in Texas, then turn to the Middle East. Clark says that Hamas's victory is a reflection of Bush's policies because he divides people, causing them to go to extremes. He also says that if Fatah hadn't provided such poor leadership (they were very corrupt), the Palestinian people might not have needed to turn to Hamas. He hopes that there will be an opportunity for dialogue and that it is up to the U.S. to promote the changes necessary to bring this about.
On Iran, Clark points out that the U.S. hasn't even bothered to try talking with Iran at all. He says that the end state of any military action against Iran would be "a very troubling prospect". They also briefly discuss the "stretched" Army, which Clark compares to a rubber band when you stretch it - you don't know when it's going to snap but you know that it will because it's not a normal state.
