Clark on current events
Video (alternate), Audio (transcript) - Clark on Iran, Syria, and presidential politics. He recommends talking with Syria, pointing out that diplomacy isn't about being friends with people, it's about resolving situations in the best interests of our country. He also warns about the dangers of having a(nother) failed state in the Middle East, especially since the U.S. military is overstretched. In regard to bombing Iran, he asks, what's the end state? What happens then? He goes on to discuss many bad consequences that would come of military action. The question isn't whether we can do it, but what the consequences of our actions will be and if they will be what we want. Finally, they talk about politics. Clark says that the Democrats have actually been very consistent on the need to have a sound counter-terrorism policy and that he's proud of being a Democrat (you go, Wes!). He also points out that a two-party system is necessary because power corrupts so there needs to be an opposition (the interviewer seems to spend all his time bashing Democrats). Discussion.
