Clark on Iraq

Video (transcript) - Geraldo asks Clark about when troops can or should be withdrawn from Iraq, referencing statements made by CENTCOM commander General Abizaid. Clark says that Abizaid is assuming that the Iraqis will be able to take over from U.S. troops, but he describes this as a "theory". He says that the mission wasn't started in the right way and it's currently in great trouble. The armed forces and the commanders are doing the best they can but there needs to be diplomatic efforts and political efforts, which there aren't. Clark says clearly that the troops are part of the problem and will need to leave, the only question is what is the best way. He thinks that there may be only a few weeks left to turn things around.

Discussion at CCN, Daily Kos.

Clark Quote

Don't we owe it to ourselves to be all that we can be as a people of faith? To reach out and offer hope and opportunity to the least among us? To preach peace and prosperity and to live equality and justice? (source)
