Gen. Wesley Clark speaks at Muskie Lobster Festival
General Wesley Clark was getting a taste of Maine politics and lobster at this year's Muskie bake, renamed the Muskie Lobster Festival.
Clark won't say whether he'll make a second run for the White House in 2008, but he was looking very much the candidate, as he shook hands with Democratic party faithful at the fundraiser.
He told party supporters Democrats need to challenge the president on an exit strategy for the war in Iraq. He also said the party needs to show Americans that Democrats celebrate family values with their work to improve health care and education.
Clark has been critical of the Base Realignment and Closure process, too. He said the pentagon needs to make sure all parts of the country have a military presence.
"I think we should try to have national security elements all over the country and not have them concentrated in one part of the country," Clark said.
Clark is the second potential presidential hopeful to visit Maine in the past two weeks. Former vice presidential nominee John Edwards just visited Portland to talk about his work to eradicate poverty.
