Clark will speak at Clinton Day Dinner

U.S. Army Gen. (Ret.) Wesley Clark will be the speaker at the annual Clark County Clinton Day Dinner in August, according to a press release from the Clark County Democratic Committee.

"We are excited to have such a distinguished speaker at this year's dinner," Clark County Sheriff Troy Tucker, chairman of the 2005 event, said.

Clark was reared in Arkansas and is a retired four-star general.

He sought the Democratic nomination for president during the 2004 campaign, but withdrew from the race after winning the Oklahoma primary.

According to Tucker and county Chairman Todd Turner, more advance tickets have been sold for this year's dinner than ever before. Those working on the event believe that the high number of sales is due to the announcement of Clark as the keynote speaker.

The dinner will be Aug. 13 at the Garrison Center on the campus of Henderson State University. A reception and silent auction will begin at 6 p.m., and the dinner and program will begin at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the dinner are $25. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Tucker at 246-8859 or Turner at 246-9844.

Don't we owe it to ourselves to be all that we can be as a people of faith? To reach out and offer hope and opportunity to the least among us? To preach peace and prosperity and to live equality and justice? (source)
