Happy Independence Day

Clark posted the following entry to his blog on July 4, 2005

***

229 years ago today, during the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia, the United States of America was born. By affixing their signatures to the Declaration of Independence, our forefathers founded our country on the universal principles of freedom, liberty, and equality.

These were truly revolutionary ideas 229 years ago, and they still guide us today. As we celebrate Independence Day, let us all recommit ourselves to defending these core American values, and preserving our nation for 229 more years to come.

Gert and I wish you and your family a safe and happy 4th of July!

Clark Quote

Don't we owe it to ourselves to be all that we can be as a people of faith? To reach out and offer hope and opportunity to the least among us? To preach peace and prosperity and to live equality and justice? (source)
