What a week!

Wes Clark posted the following entry to his blog on June 16, 2005:

This week has been incredible. I wanted to share a few examples and thank the WesPac Grassroots for what each of you is doing to Secure America's Future.

It started last weekend when Bob, Ellie, and John Hood set up a table at the Wisconsin State Democratic Convention. Bob's initiative illustrates the grassroots in action. Bob wearing his VFW cap throughout the convention demonstrates we have Democratic veterans who are proud to have served our country and Flag.

Speaking of our Flag, it was so good to see many friends and supporters at the Manchester City Democrats Flag Day Dinner last Sunday. I want to thank Ray Buckley, the Chair, for inviting me to share my thoughts on our nation's Flag. Pinb did a wonderful job of capturing the emotion of the event for CCN. Our Flag has an important and unique role in our society. The Flag does not just belong to just one political party. It belongs to all of us. Young men and women give their lives for this Flag so we can all remain free in a democratic society. I appreciated the opportunity to talk about the challenges we face as a nation - both foreign and domestic.

Jai Johnson Pickett, Catherine McLendon, Doris Lane, Alexandra Richards, and countless other individuals have made a real difference on the Blogs this week. Whether it is supporting the chairman of our party or describing why the opportunity to offer my perspective on FOX is so important. I know there are many more Bloggers who should be thanked, so please accept my thanks to all of you.

And last but not least, the WesPac Grassroots is adding new opportunities and teams. Ruth Benedict, Pamela Nelson, Sue Randall, Cate Poole, and Kelly Flinn are creating a terrific NCCM program. The tie in through ClarkVolunteers is great. Gert and I look forward to being with you on Saturday evening in July. Stan Davis, Jeffrey Dummond, Cheryl Poling, Tricia Keith-Spiegel, Howard Park, Rachel Fox, Greg Hatton, and Julia Sunderlin contributed above and beyond the call this week. The ideas, manuals, how-to guides, and event information help us grow WesPac. I know hundreds of you help each day. Please accept my thanks to all of you. You are making a difference and I appreciate and value your efforts.

Clark Quote

Don't we owe it to ourselves to be all that we can be as a people of faith? To reach out and offer hope and opportunity to the least among us? To preach peace and prosperity and to live equality and justice? (source)
